Study on COPD Prevalence and Cardiopulmonary Co-Management in Adults with Coronary Heart Disease, Atrial Fibrillation, and Chronic Heart Failure

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying cardiovascular diseases CVD including coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation, and chronic heart failure in participants aged 40 years or older. The study aims to describe how common chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD is among these participants and to observe how combined heart and lung care affects their short-term health outcomes. Approximately 3,000 participants will be enrolled, with about 1,000 in each disease group. The study uses a behavioral intervention that includes guideline education and implementation at both the investigator and patient levels. Investigators receive disease education before enrollment, and cardiologists and pulmonologists provide ongoing disease education and coordinated treatment every four weeks. Participants will be followed up every four weeks to manage their care and monitor progress. Participants will undergo spirometry testing and complete questionnaires to assess their lung and heart health. Researchers will measure COPD prevalence, hospitalization rates, symptom scores, lung function, and other heart and lung-related biomarkers over 12 weeks. The study includes assessments of treatment adherence and changes in health status through repeated evaluations at baseline and weeks 4, 8, and 12. Safety and outcomes will be closely monitored throughout the study period.
