What this Trial Is About
This research aims to support child development and family resilience by evaluating a strengths-based educational program for parents of children aged 2 to 5 years, including those with and without disabilities. The program focuses on promoting playfulness as a key context for child development and helping parents become effective advocates and supporters of their children's growth. The study explores how parental support during play influences psychological adjustment and family resilience. Parents will be assigned to either an intervention group or a waitlist control group. Those in the intervention group will participate in two 45-minute virtual training sessions that provide information on child development, parental stressors, parent advocacy, and the role of play in healthy development. The control group will continue family life as usual without educational sessions. Data will be collected online through questionnaires and open-ended questions to assess the program's impact. Participants will complete questionnaires measuring parental sense of competence, parental stress, children's behavior, and parents' ability to support play at enrollment and after two weeks. Qualitative data from open-ended questions and session transcripts will also be analyzed to identify benefits. The study involves online assessments and virtual sessions, with the goal of producing outcomes that foster family resilience. The total participation time involves two weeks from enrollment through the follow-up evaluation.
