What this Trial Is About
Researchers are conducting an online study to understand how genes influence the risk of pulmonary hypertension, a condition affecting the lungs and heart. This study welcomes adults aged 18 and older living in the United States, regardless of whether they have been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. The research aims to improve knowledge about genetic factors related to this condition and includes a diverse group of participants to enhance data usefulness. Participants will take part by completing online health surveys through a study portal and providing a saliva sample using a prepaid mail kit sent to their home. There is no need for any office visits. Participants may choose to share electronic health records, but this is optional. The study includes people both with and without a history of pulmonary hypertension. During the study, participants will spend about 20 minutes completing surveys and sending in their saliva sample. Researchers will analyze genetic risk variants linked to pulmonary hypertension over a two-year period. Participants may receive information about their genetic ancestry at no cost. The study team will keep participants informed with brief monthly newsletters. Participation is entirely remote and convenient for those involved.
