What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate how well ultrasound-guided Sacral Erector Spinae Plane ESP block works for managing pain after pilonidal sinus surgery in adults aged 18 to 65. The study compares this technique to standard pain management to address the problem of severe pain that reduces patient comfort after surgery. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either the block or usual care in a single-blind design. Participants in the Sacral ESPB group will receive the block immediately after surgery and before breathing tube removal, using 20 ml of local anesthetic guided by ultrasound. The control group will not receive the block but both groups will get intravenous ibuprofen and tramadol before surgery ends, followed by paracetamol every 8 hours after surgery. The study measures and compares opioid use, pain scores, and side effects over the 24 hours after surgery. During the study, participants will be monitored for total opioid consumption and pain levels at several points within 24 hours after surgery. Researchers will also record any side effects related to opioids or the block procedure. This helps assess the effectiveness and safety of the block for postoperative pain relief. The study lasts through the immediate postoperative period with detailed follow-up assessments during the first day after surgery.
