What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying the development and progression of coronary atherosclerosis in people with diabetes mellitus using coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA). The goal is to understand how this condition changes over time and to identify risk factors related to coronary atherosclerosis in a Korean diabetic population. This observational study follows patients who had an initial CCTA between 2008 and 2012 at the Diabetes Center of the Asan Medical Center. Participants who previously underwent initial CCTA will have follow-up CCTA exams ordered by their primary physicians. Information such as medical history, cardiovascular risk factors, laboratory results, and demographic data were collected at the initial and follow-up CCTA visits. This study does not involve any experimental treatments but monitors changes in coronary atherosclerosis over approximately 10 years. During the study, participants will have their coronary artery condition assessed by comparing their initial and follow-up CCTA scans. Researchers will review clinical data and risk factors to understand disease progression. The main measure is the change in coronary atherosclerosis over about a 10-year period. The study includes ongoing monitoring and data collection to support this evaluation, with total participation spanning from the initial CCTA through follow-up visits as determined by each patient's care provider.

Screening

Duration - 2 to 4 weeks

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial.

Diagnostic Evaluation

Duration - Initial evaluation occurred between February 2008 and June 2012; follow-up occurs about 10 years after the initial CCTA.

Participants undergo coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) and have their demographic data, medical history, cardiovascular risk factors, and laboratory data collected.

1 to 2 visits depending on timing of follow-up CCTA

Long-term Monitoring

Duration - Approximately 10 years after the first CCTA

Participants are observed over time based on their follow-up CCTA ordered by their primary physician to evaluate changes in coronary atherosclerosis.
