What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effectiveness of group gaming interventions for individuals aged 12 to 18 with problematic gaming behavior and gaming disorder. This randomized, parallel-group study compares an intervention group receiving game-based activities to a control group with no intervention. The purpose is to understand how these group activities may influence gaming disorder severity and related psychological factors. Participants in the intervention group attend weekly 90-minute sessions over 10 weeks, divided into beginning, middle, and end stages. Activities include point card distribution, wish lists for rewards, learning about gaming types, reward systems, gaming disorder concepts, and healthy gaming habits. The final sessions involve presenting a group-designed game and summarizing the experience. The control group receives no intervention during the study. Throughout the study, assessments occur before the intervention, immediately after, and at a three-month follow-up. Researchers measure the severity of gaming disorder, daily gaming hours, gaming session frequency, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. Participants may leave the study at any time. The total study duration includes baseline, intervention period, and follow-up assessments to monitor lasting effects.
