Study of Combined Neuromuscular Inhibition Technique and Dry Cupping Therapy for Pain Relief and Recovery in Upper Trapezius Muscle Trigger Points

Researchers are evaluating the combined effects of the Integrated Neuromuscular Inhibition Technique and Dry Cupping Therapy on pain relief and functional recovery in adults with myofascial trigger points in the upper trapezius muscle, a common cause of mechanical neck pain. This randomized controlled trial aims to understand how these therapies work alone or together to improve muscle function and reduce pain intensity. Participants are assigned to one of four groups stretching and strengthening exercises twice a week, Integrated Neuromuscular Inhibition Technique three times a week, Dry Cupping Therapy twice a week, or a combination of all three treatments over four weeks. Dry Cupping Therapy involves applying suction using a plastic set and hand vacuum pump on trigger points for 10 minutes, while the Integrated Neuromuscular Inhibition Technique includes ischemic compression, strain-counterstrain, and muscle energy techniques. Throughout the study, participants will be assessed on pain intensity and pain pressure threshold over the four-week treatment period, along with functional recovery measured by the Neck Disability Index. The study includes regular sessions and evaluations to monitor progress and treatment effects. The total participation lasts for four weeks, during which safety and outcomes will be closely observed.
