After the interaction, a 30-minute interview is conducted to gather impressions, digital skills, barriers, and expectations regarding the AI companion. Additional interviews may be offered if needed. During the study, researchers will observe usage behaviors and collect feedback from both people with NCDs and their caregivers about enablers and barriers to using Talk-to-Jo. The study assessments last about 15 minutes for each measure. The goal is to evaluate the usability and acceptability of the technology to ensure it meets the needs of patients and caregivers. Participation involves questionnaires, interaction with the avatar, and interviews, with all activities conducted in French.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Be 65 years old or older.
  • Have a mild to moderate neurocognitive disorder diagnosed within the past year.
  • Receive care for the neurocognitive disorder at an outpatient clinic.
  • Have a caregiver who assists you.
  • Live in a personal home or non-medical senior residence.
  • Be able to understand spoken and written French.
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Unable to provide informed consent.
  • Participating in another experimental clinical study.
  • Living in a long-term care facility or medicalized section of a senior residence.
  • Unable to understand spoken or written French.
  • Having moderate to severe visual or hearing impairments that affect communication, unless using aids.
  • For caregivers: having a neurocognitive disorder.
