Researchers are evaluating a prevention program called Targeted Health Dialogues aimed at improving cardiovascular health and reducing serious diseases, including cancer, in middle-aged adults living in Skåne, Sweden. This observational study integrates health dialogues, clinical and laboratory data collection, and detailed questionnaires about health behaviors, diet, and lifestyle. The study links individual data with national and regional health records, including hospital admissions, diagnoses, prescriptions, sociodemographic factors, and family relations, to better understand disease risk and intervention effects. The program includes health dialogues led by specially trained staff, where participants first complete questionnaires and undergo measurements like blood pressure, BMI, waist-to-hip ratio, and blood tests for glucose and cholesterol. A "health curve" summarizes these results and is discussed during the dialogue. A subgroup also provides blood samples for molecular biomarker analysis. The study is enrolling all 40-, 50-, 60-, and 70-year-old residents registered at healthcare centers in Skåne. Participants provide health information through questionnaires and physical assessments, while researchers collect and link extensive health and demographic data over time. The primary outcomes focus on the impact of the health dialogues on cardiovascular disease and cancer incidence by 2035. Secondary outcomes include associations between risk factors and diseases, biomarker identification, health behavior changes, and public health profiling. The study will monitor participants long-term to evaluate and refine personalized prevention approaches.

Complete this quick 3-step screening to check your eligibility
Duration - 2 to 4 weeks
Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial.
1 visit (in-person)
Duration - Single session
Participants complete a detailed questionnaire and undergo measurements including blood glucose, cholesterol, BMI, waist-to-hip ratio, and blood pressure. They then discuss their health results with specially trained healthcare personnel in a targeted health dialogue. A sub-group provides additional blood samples for molecular analyses.
1 visit (in-person)
Duration - Up to 10 years
Participants are observed over time through linkage of collected data with national and regional health records to evaluate health outcomes and the effects of targeted health dialogues.
No scheduled visits; data collected through health records
