What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the effects of adding exercise to vitamin D treatment in men with type 2 diabetes who have erectile dysfunction and low vitamin D levels. The study aims to understand if combining treadmill walking with vitamin D supplements can offer additional benefits compared to vitamin D treatment alone. This randomized, single-masked trial is sponsored by Cairo University and includes 40 diabetic men aged 35 to 45 years. Participants will be divided into two groups. Both groups will receive Cholecalciferol 200,000 I.U. every two weeks for 12 weeks to treat low vitamin D. The experimental group will also perform moderate-intensity treadmill walking for one hour, three times per week during the same 12-week period. The other group will receive only the vitamin D treatment without exercise. During the 12 weeks, participants will be monitored through various assessments including the International Index of Erectile Function. Additional measurements will include glycated hemoglobin, fasting blood glucose, body mass index, waist circumference, cholesterol levels, and vitamin D levels. These tests will help researchers evaluate changes related to erectile function, diabetes control, body composition, and lipid profiles. The total study participation lasts 12 weeks with outcome measurements taken at the end.
