Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients who are 18 years or older
- Inpatients and outpatients
- Diagnosed with pleural fluid and referred for clinically indicated drainage
- Clinical evidence of pulmonary infection with effusion (such as fever, leukocytosis, new or worsening infiltrate on chest x-ray, or clinical deterioration)
- Clinical evidence of malignancy
You will not qualify if you...
- Any medical condition that in the investigator's or treating clinician's opinion makes pleural fluid drainage unsafe
- Incarcerated individuals
