Age: 18Years +

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Patients who are 18 years or older
  • Inpatients and outpatients
  • Diagnosed with pleural fluid and referred for clinically indicated drainage
  • Clinical evidence of pulmonary infection with effusion (such as fever, leukocytosis, new or worsening infiltrate on chest x-ray, or clinical deterioration)
  • Clinical evidence of malignancy
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Any medical condition that in the investigator's or treating clinician's opinion makes pleural fluid drainage unsafe
  • Incarcerated individuals
