What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effects of three non-drug treatmentsvibration therapy, abdominal massage, and myofascial releasecompared to education alone in women aged 18 to 30 who have primary dysmenorrhea, a condition causing menstrual pain that affects daily life. This study is a randomized, assessor-blinded trial involving 72 participants divided equally into four groups. The goal is to understand how these treatments influence menstrual pain, pressure pain threshold, menstrual symptoms, and central sensitization symptoms. Participants are randomly assigned to one of four groups vibration therapy using a vibrating massage ball on the abdominal and lumbosacral areas, abdominal massage on the lower abdominal and suprapubic regions, myofascial release targeting the abdominal, lumbopelvic, and sacral areas, or an education-only control group. All groups receive standardized education about managing menstrual pain. The three treatment groups receive their assigned intervention twice weekly for 12 weeks, covering three menstrual cycles. Participants will be assessed before and after the 12-week treatment period. Assessments include questionnaires measuring menstrual pain and symptoms, pressure pain threshold testing at six body points, and central sensitization symptoms, all conducted by a blinded assessor. The main outcome is the change in the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire total score. The study runs from July to November 2026, with participants involved for the full 12-week intervention period.
