Prospective Multicenter Randomized Trial Comparing Oral Explanation Alone and With Video Tutorial for Bowel Preparation Quality and Adenoma Detection

Researchers are evaluating how to improve the quality of colon preparation before colonoscopy, a common procedure used to examine the colon and rectum. The study addresses the problem that many patients do not fully understand the preparation instructions, which can reduce the effectiveness of the colonoscopy. This clinical trial aims to see if adding video tutorial explanations to the usual oral instructions improves colon preparation quality and meets the standards set by the Socie9te9 frane7aise d'endoscopie digestive (SFED) in 2019. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group receives the usual face-to-face explanation of colon preparation by a gastroenterologist, and the other group receives both the face-to-face explanation and an email with a link to a video tutorial explaining how to prepare for the colonoscopy. This video can be watched multiple times at home to help improve understanding. The quality of the colon preparation will be assessed during the colonoscopy using the Boston score. During the study, participants will undergo a colonoscopy where the preparation quality will be evaluated. Researchers will compare the detection rates of adenomas, the rate of complete colonoscopies, and any adverse events or complications occurring up to one day after the procedure. The study involves adults aged 18 to 80 who can access the internet and are undergoing their first colonoscopy for specific gastrointestinal reasons. The total involvement includes the preparation period and colonoscopy procedure assessments.
