What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating how PlayStation VR2-based immersive virtual reality compares to traditional teaching methods for learning wrist anatomy. This study focuses on first-year medical students at Kyrenia University and aims to determine if VR can improve knowledge acquisition and retention. The trial is a prospective, randomized controlled educational study designed to assess whether VR is non-inferior or superior to classical anatomy teaching methods. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups. The VR Group receives a 30-35 minute interactive wrist anatomy lesson using the PlayStation 5 console and PlayStation VR2 headset. The Classical Group participates in a 30-35 minute faculty-led anatomy session using lectures, anatomical atlases, and 3D bone models. Both teaching methods cover the same wrist anatomy content. Participants complete assessments before and immediately after the lesson, including multiple-choice questions and visual labeling. A retention test is given 2-4 weeks later. Researchers also measure learning satisfaction, cognitive load, and VR-related side effects such as dizziness or eye strain. Outcome assessors do not know which group participants were in, and the study follows participants through these assessments until the retention test period ends.
