The ALA-LHC is a longitudinal, multi-center cohort study that will enroll approximately 4,000 young adults between the ages of 25-35 who do not have severe lung disease. Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 25-35 years at the time of the baseline examination
- Able to read and understand English or Spanish
- Has a social security number
- Resident (citizen or non-citizen) of the United States for at least 12 months prior to examination
- Willing to provide contact information for at least 2 proxies who know your whereabouts and vital status
You will not qualify if you...
- Severe asthma requiring high-level therapy or frequent healthcare visits/hospitalization in the past 12 months
- History of chronic lung diseases other than asthma, including COPD, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension
- Current pregnancy
- History of cancer other than non-melanoma skin cancer
- Diagnosed cardiovascular diseases such as congenital or coronary heart disease
- Inability or unwillingness to provide informed consent or perform study procedures
- Unable to be contacted by phone or email
- Any condition putting participant at risk as judged by a physician
- Being institutionalized
