What this Trial Is About
The BEAT-SHOCK Registry is an observational study focused on adults aged 18 and older who have cardiogenic shock. This registry aims to define the purpose, operational processes, and organization for collecting, storing, managing, and sharing health-related data for patients with acute cardiogenic shock and related heart conditions. It covers conditions such as myocardial infarction, fulminant myocarditis, acute decompensated heart failure, severe valvular disease, post-cardiotomy, and perioperative cardiogenic shock. This registry does not involve any interventions or treatments but collects detailed health data from patients admitted with cardiogenic shock at the University Hospital Basel or those who develop it during their hospital stay. The study includes patients with impaired organ perfusion due to heart dysfunction, persistent low blood pressure, or use of supportive therapies, and also those with normotensive cardiogenic shock with signs of low blood flow. Written consent is required for participation. Participants health data are tracked during hospitalization and up to 10 years afterward to measure outcomes including all-cause mortality before discharge, mortality at 30 and 90 days, need for organ support, and acute kidney injury within 36 hours of diagnosis. The registry involves regular collection and management of clinical data to better understand the course and outcomes of cardiogenic shock over time.
