What this Trial Is About
Breastfeeding has well-known benefits for both infants and mothers, and exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months of life. However, the impact of smartphone use on the relationship between mother and newborn, especially in relation to breastfeeding success, has not been well studied. This observational study aims to evaluate how smartphone use may affect the success and duration of breastfeeding. Participants in this study are breastfeeding mothers of newborns born at the Amiens-Picardie University Hospital maternity ward. The study does not involve any interventions but will observe and assess breastfeeding status over time. Mothers will be contacted at 1 month to assess breastfeeding success or failure and these outcomes will be followed up at 2, 3, 4, and 6 months. During the study, mothers will be contacted by phone to report on their breastfeeding status at specified intervals. Researchers will measure changes in breastfeeding status at 2, 3, 4, and 6 months to understand the impact of smartphone use on breastfeeding outcomes. Participation involves providing information over phone contacts, and the study will continue until June 2026.
