What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate the effect of Su Jok therapy on breastfeeding success, breastfeeding self-efficacy, and the perception of insufficient milk in first-time mothers who have had a caesarean section. Su Jok therapy is a modern acupressure and acupuncture approach that uses the body's independent communication systems on the hands and feet. It involves various techniques such as massage, heating with moxa, needles, magnets, and seeds applied to reflection points on the hands and feet. This therapy integrates many traditional oriental medicine methods and has limited previous study in increasing breast milk. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: the experimental group receiving Su Jok therapy or a control group with no intervention. In the experimental group, seeds will be placed on specific points on the palm of the hand daily for the first ten days after birth, kept in the hand for two hours each day. The control group will not receive Su Jok therapy. The study uses a quadruple masking design to limit bias. During the study, participants will be assessed using the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale, the Breastfeeding Charting System (LATCH), and the Inadequate Milk Perception Scale at three time points: before the intervention, on the third day after caesarean section, and on the tenth day after caesarean section. These measures will help researchers monitor breastfeeding confidence, breastfeeding effectiveness, and perceptions of milk sufficiency. The total participation covers the first ten days postpartum, with daily therapy and evaluations at set intervals to track outcomes.
