Study of Clinical Features and Risk Factors in Children Under 18 with Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Assiut University Children Hospital

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to understand the clinical characteristics and risk factors of children suffering from inflammatory bowel disease IBD at Assiut University Children Hospital. It focuses on patients under 18 years old with a confirmed diagnosis of IBD to gain insights into symptoms and contributing factors related to this condition. All participating children will undergo detailed medical history collection, including family history and gastrointestinal symptoms such as rectal bleeding, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and appetite loss. A thorough physical examination covering general health, chest, heart, abdomen, and neurological status will be performed. Laboratory tests like fecal calprotectin, CRP, CBC, and ESR will be conducted, alongside endoscopic examinations and histological study of tissue biopsies taken during endoscopy. Childrens involvement includes providing medical history and undergoing physical examinations and lab tests during their hospital stay. Researchers will measure clinical features and risk factors of IBD over a 6-month period. The study will monitor these factors carefully to better understand the disease in children. Participation will last as long as needed to complete these assessments and investigations, with no interventional treatments administered as part of the study.
