What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effects of Cognitive Groove, a community-based dance rehabilitation program, compared to usual care in older adults living with frailty. This trial aims to determine if Cognitive Groove improves functional movement, physical performance, and strength. It also assesses its impact on frailty status, fear of falling, balance confidence, mood, cognition, grip strength, daily living activities, life space mobility, loneliness, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness over 12 months. Participants in the Cognitive Groove group will attend dance classes twice a week for 3 months. Each class includes orientation, warm-up, structured dance routines set to music from the 1950s and 60s, cool-down, and socialization with balance exercise reviews. The control group will continue their usual care without intervention but may join Cognitive Groove after the study. Participants will receive a manual outlining weekly homework exercises. During the study, assessments will measure changes in physical performance, walking speed, functional mobility, dual task ability, postural control, grip strength, cognition, frailty, fear of falling, balance confidence, mood, loneliness, daily activities, life space mobility, quality of life, healthcare use, falls, injuries, and adherence. These are evaluated at baseline, 3 months, and some up to 12 months. The study monitors participants' progress and safety throughout the trial, which lasts at least 3 months with follow-up assessments.
