Eat Right, Screen Right A Self-Paced Online Program to Help Adults Prevent Colorectal Cancer Through Nutrition and Screening Education

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to support adult learners in managing nutrition risks and understanding screening options to prevent colorectal cancer. It builds upon a previous pilot study and is designed to help participants learn how diet and screening can reduce their cancer risk. The study is led by the University of Florida and uses educational lessons to teach about colorectal cancer screening guidelines, nutrition risks, and behavior changes for cancer prevention. Participants will access a short, self-paced web-based module through the UFIFAS Extensions e-learning platform. The program includes six tailored lessons that cover user-selected topics, including an overview of screening guidelines and personalized nutrition risk factors such as intake of red meat, processed meat, and alcohol. Additional optional modules provide more detailed information for those interested. During the study, participants will complete self-reported questionnaires measuring their intentions to obtain colorectal cancer screening and changes in dietary intentions. If participants do not complete the intervention within eight weeks, they will receive email reminders. The study follows participants for up to 24 months to observe changes. Participants must have access to a computer or mobile device and be able to understand English to take part.
