What this Trial Is About

Low back pain (LBP) is a common issue affecting 50-70% of pregnant women, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to physiological and biomechanical changes like ligament relaxation and postural shifts. This research aims to evaluate the combined effect of prenatal stretching and kinesiotaping on pain, mobility, and quality of life in pregnant women with LBP. The study is a randomized controlled trial conducted at Rahim Yar Khan hospital and Hamdani Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, focusing on women aged 18 to 35 years with a gestational age between 20 and 34 weeks who experience low back pain. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. Group A will receive prenatal stretching exercises under supervision three times per week for sessions lasting about 30 minutes, along with kinesiotaping applied by a certified professional to the lumbar region. The tape will stay on for 3 to 5 days and be reapplied regularly over the 4 to 6-week intervention period. Group B will perform the same stretching exercises without kinesiotaping. Both groups will be monitored regularly to ensure adherence and identify any adverse effects during the 6 to 8-week study duration. Throughout the study, participants will undergo baseline and post-intervention assessments measuring pain using a 10 cm Numeric Pain Rating Scale, mobility through the Schober Test, and quality of life via the SF-36 questionnaire. Researchers will collect and analyze data using SPSS software. The study includes informed consent, regular monitoring, and evaluation to assess how these interventions impact pregnant women's low back pain and related outcomes.
