What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating how eating peanuts every day for 12 weeks may affect weight, diet quality, feelings of fullness, energy, and body composition in adults who have been taking GLP-1 medicines like semaglutide or tirzepatide for at least three months. The study aims to understand whether adding peanuts to meals can improve overall health markers such as tiredness and blood levels related to nutrition and metabolism. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will eat 2 ounces (about 53 grams) of dry-roasted, lightly salted peanuts daily along with their usual diet. The other group will continue their regular diet without peanuts. The study involves dietary supplementation and monitoring over a 12-week period. During the study, participants will have various assessments at the start and end of the 12 weeks. These include surveys measuring hunger, satiety, fatigue, mood, and food enjoyment; reviews of medical records for blood tests like fasting glucose, cholesterol, and HbA1c; and body composition scans using DEXA. Physical activity and dietary quality will also be tracked. Researchers will monitor changes in these measures to evaluate the impact of daily peanut intake.
