What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating a smartphone-based self-efficacy training designed to support patients with psychiatric disorders who are waiting for specialized psychotherapy. This study aims to shorten waiting periods by improving self-efficacy, reducing stress, and lowering dropout rates from waiting lists. It also investigates whether the training can enhance motivation and the therapeutic relationship during subsequent therapy. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups: an intervention group that receives a one-week digital self-efficacy training combined with Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA), and a control group that receives EMA only. The training involves psychoeducation and imagination tasks focused on personal achievements, provided three times daily via a smartphone app. Both groups answer questions about mood and social contacts three times daily during the week. Participants start with a screening and laboratory session assessing psychiatric disorders and psychological measures. They then use the app for one week, followed by post-intervention questionnaires immediately after, one month later, and after starting psychotherapy. Researchers measure changes in self-efficacy, hopelessness, anxiety, stress, therapy expectations, depression, optimism, and intolerance of uncertainty. The study includes ongoing monitoring and lasts through the subsequent therapy period.
