What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating the mental health challenges facing adolescents, such as increased anxiety, depression, sleep and eating disorders, and suicide rates. This research focuses on whether helping teens discover and develop their personal talents and life projects can boost their life satisfaction and mental health. The study uses tools like the Satisfaction with Life Scale, Young Person-Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation scales, and the Geniotype questionnaire to understand these effects. The trial involves three groups: one receiving eight weekly one-hour sessions of Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy (HIP) combined with virtual reality identity exploration using the Explore Your Meanings (EYME) platform; a second group receiving the same sessions plus the Geniotype questionnaire to identify personal talents; and a control group placed on a waiting list for two months. The sessions include various therapeutic techniques focused on self-understanding, emotional intelligence, and life project development. Participants will provide demographic information and complete questionnaires before and after the 8-week intervention period. Researchers will assess changes in life satisfaction and psychological distress, monitor for any side effects like mild virtual reality discomfort, and analyze data with advanced methods. After the study, those in the waiting list may join an intervention group. The total participation time is approximately two months, including assessments and therapy sessions.
