What this Trial Is About
Researchers at the New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) Research Institute are studying Parkinson's disease and Gaucher disease, focusing on mutations in the GBA gene. This observational study uses cells from the body, such as skin or blood cells, to create stem cells and other cell types for research. The goal is to better understand these conditions through genetic testing and sample analysis, aiming to support future treatments or potential cures. Participants provide biological samples including skin biopsies, blood, and saliva. These samples allow researchers to create a diverse bank of stem cell lines and associated biological information. The study includes groups of people diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, Gaucher disease, and healthy controls. Some samples already collected for other medical reasons may also be used. Participants complete health questionnaires and provide samples during the study. Researchers may follow up in the future to collect additional information or update on other research opportunities. The primary outcome is to establish a comprehensive collection of biological samples and stem cell lines. The study is observational and does not involve treatments or interventions.
