What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying adults living with HIV to see if it is feasible to conduct a larger randomized controlled trial comparing chiropractic care to no treatment. This pilot trial aims to explore differences in quality of life and immune system markers between these groups. The study is led by Tyson Perez, DC, PhD, and focuses on people continuing their usual HIV treatment while adding or not adding chiropractic care. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will continue their prescribed anti-retroviral therapy (ART) and receive chiropractic care once a week for six months. The other group will continue ART but will not receive chiropractic care during the same time. This study period lasts for six months. During the trial, researchers will check how many eligible people enroll and stick with the study. They will measure quality of life, pain levels, and immune markers like CD4 count and inflammation at the start, halfway, and end of the study. Participants will complete online surveys and share lab results. The study also monitors participant retention and adherence to chiropractic treatment over six months.
