What this Trial Is About

Lateral epicondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow, is a frequent cause of pain on the outer side of the elbow affecting 1-3% of middle-aged adults. This condition results from overuse of forearm muscles leading to pain, tenderness, and reduced grip strength, making daily tasks difficult. Researchers are exploring the effects of combining eccentric exercises with muscle energy technique MET to assess their impact on pain, function, range of motion, and grip strength in adults aged 20 to 50. Participants in this study are randomly assigned to one of three groups one receiving both eccentric exercise and MET, another receiving MET alone, and the third performing eccentric exercise alone. Each group also receives pulsed ultrasound therapy for 10 minutes. Interventions consist of 8 treatment sessions over 2 weeks, with specific exercise and manual therapy techniques tailored for each group. Throughout the study, assessments are conducted at the start and after the 8th session using tools like the Numeric Pain Rating Scale, Patient Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation, goniometer for range of motion, and handheld dynamometer for grip strength. These measures help evaluate changes in pain, function, and strength. The total participation period spans the 2-week treatment phase, focusing on short-term outcomes related to lateral epicondylitis.
