What this Trial Is About

Cricket is a widely played team sport that requires skilled bowling actions developed over many years. This research explores how plyometric training, which involves explosive exercises to build muscle and improve fitness, can help female fast bowlers. The trial focuses on how these exercises may affect their strength, power, and dynamic balance, important factors for athletic performance. The study is a randomized controlled trial conducted in Pakistan and will last 10 months after approval. Participants are divided into two groups. One group follows an 8-week plyometric exercise program for upper and lower body, with sessions three times a week lasting 60 minutes each, including warm-ups and rest intervals. Exercises include plyo pushups, chest passes, squat jumps, cone jumps, and more. The other group performs a standard exercise routine involving push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, running, and squats, also three times a week for 60 minutes per session. Participants undergo tests for lower body strength, power, and balance before and after the exercise period using vertical jump, 3-hop, and star excursion balance tests. The study collects data at the start and end of the 8 weeks, which is analyzed statistically. The trial includes female fast bowlers aged 19 to 27 years who are healthy and active team members, ensuring a thorough evaluation of plyometric training effects.
