What this Trial Is About

This research aims to compare the effects of strength training and plyometric training on 50-meter sprint performance and biomechanics in young competitive swimmers aged 10 to 17. Plyometric training focuses on explosive power and quick muscle reactions important for swimming starts, while strength training aims to improve stroke length, frequency, and power. The study will provide insights into optimal training methods for improving sprint swimming performance in youth athletes. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group will add strength training to their regular swim training, and the other will add plyometric exercises. Both groups will train twice a week for 8 weeks. Strength training includes resistance exercises targeting major muscle groups with progressive load increases, while plyometric training involves jumping and medicine ball exercises to build explosive power. Both groups continue their standard swim training throughout the study. During the study, participants' 50-meter sprint biomechanics, stroke frequency, and overall sprint times will be measured before and after the 8-week training period. Researchers will also assess upper and lower body muscle strength and explosive power using tests like the standing long jump. These measurements will help determine how each training type affects swim performance. The total participation period includes the 8 weeks of training plus assessments, with outcomes monitored throughout the study duration.
