What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying the effect of walking exercise with a dog on people who have both chronic subjective tinnitus and mild obstructive sleep apnea. This trial aims to see how combining walking exercise with diet restriction compares to diet restriction alone for managing these conditions. The study involves adult participants who are obese and have mild sleep apnea, focusing on improving their tinnitus symptoms and sleep quality. Participants will be divided into two groups of 20 each. Both groups will follow a low-calorie diet for 12 weeks. One group will also take part in free walking sessions with a dog for 30 minutes, three times a week. The other group will follow the diet only without the walking exercise with a dog. During the 12-week study, researchers will assess tinnitus severity using the tinnitus handicap inventory and measure discomfort and loudness with visual analog scales. They will also evaluate sleep apnea severity, daytime sleepiness, sleep quality, mood, body mass index, and waist circumference. These assessments will help understand the impact of the exercise and diet interventions on participants' health and symptoms.
