Malnutrition affects a significant portion of hospitalized patients, ranging from 30% to 50%. This research aims to evaluate how common malnutrition is among adult patients hospitalized at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital on a specific day, using updated criteria from the High Authority for Health (HAS) for 2019 and 2021 based on patient age. The study builds on previous surveys conducted in France and at this hospital to understand current prevalence and risks associated with malnutrition. The study involves adult patients hospitalized in conventional wards within eight selected departments of the hospital. Evaluators will perform bedside assessments using a questionnaire to collect measurements such as weight, height, muscle strength, and available biological data like albumin and pre-albumin levels. These details will be used to determine nutritional status according to HAS criteria from both recent and past years. Participants will be assessed on a single day, with the main measurement being the prevalence of undernutrition based on HAS criteria. Additional evaluations will compare current malnutrition rates and severity to earlier surveys and review the quality of nutritional management provided. The total study duration for some secondary outcomes extends up to six months, with no investigational treatments administered. This observational study helps identify nutritional care needs and patient risks during hospitalization.
