What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate the biomechanical forces experienced by gastroenterologists while performing Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography ERCP. It addresses concerns about musculoskeletal disorders MSDs linked to the use of lead aprons and ergonomic challenges during these procedures, which have been highlighted in previous surgical and radiological studies. The study focuses on improving practitioner comfort by assessing biomechanical stress during ERCP. Participants will use the CAPTIV system to record four ERCP procedures each. Additionally, to understand the biomechanical constraints during standard endoscopic exams, participants will also be recorded performing an upper endoscopy and a standard colonoscopy. The CAPTIV system captures detailed biomechanical data during these procedures. During the study, researchers will measure average muscle activity and angular movement during ERCP on the first day. They will also assess the level of stress experienced by practitioners during the procedures. The study involves filming and monitoring these endoscopic examinations to collect biomechanical data, with the goal of understanding physical strain and improving ergonomic practices. The trial duration extends until July 2027.
