What this Trial Is About

Cardiovascular diseases, especially ischemic heart diseases like acute myocardial infarction, are a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Physical inactivity is a major modifiable risk factor for these conditions. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of structured physical exercise on the aerobic capacity of patients with cardiovascular disease, addressing the need for improved rehabilitation and risk factor modification. The study involves a cardiac rehabilitation program with sessions conducted individually according to established guidelines. Participants undergo 20 sessions of exercise, each lasting about one hour, held 2 to 3 times weekly. The exercise intensity increases gradually each week and is adapted to individual patient needs to enhance cardiovascular capacity. Participants are patients diagnosed with cardiovascular disease who have completed baseline and post-intervention exercise stress tests. They must have attended at least 90% of the exercise sessions. The study tracks aerobic capacity as the primary outcome and cardiovascular risk as a secondary outcome. Data collection includes records from 2015 to 2024, focusing on exercise adherence and capacity changes over time.
