What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the Life Force training program, a group-based skills training designed specifically for active-duty Soldiers to enhance mental toughness and reduce harmful and high-risk behaviors. The study aims to determine who benefits most from this training by comparing participants who receive the program to a control group that does not. Mental toughness is defined as the ability to perform well under pressure, recover from setbacks, and maintain a positive attitude. The Life Force program consists of five group sessions led by trained instructors. These sessions focus on skills such as building support networks, pushing past quitting points, using failure as growth, taking responsibility for setbacks, and managing emotions effectively. Eligible active-duty Soldiers will be randomly assigned to either participate in the Life Force training or remain in the control group. Both groups will complete baseline and follow-up surveys at 6 and 12 months. Participants will complete a 15-20 minute baseline survey before randomization. Follow-up surveys at 6 and 12 months will assess high-risk behaviors, poor performance, mental toughness, military readiness, job satisfaction, career intentions, and overall functioning in work and social life. The study also uses an AI algorithm to predict who will benefit most from training. Data from training participants will be compared to controls to measure the program's impact over a 12-month period.
