This research aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of training programs within the Fellowship Council curriculums, specifically for Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary HPB and Advanced Gastrointestinal GI surgery. The study also explores job market outcomes and perceptions regarding training for graduates of these fellowship programs. The goal is to address the gap between residency and independent practice for surgeons seeking to specialize in HPB or complex GI surgery. The study observes current and past fellows of Fellowship Council-sponsored fellowships, including programs accredited by the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association AHPBA, as well as senior surgeons involved in fellowship training. The evaluation focuses on how well these curriculums prepare surgeons to perform complex surgeries independently. No experimental treatments are given, as this is an observational study assessing training methods. Participants provide information through surveys and other assessments to evaluate training efficacy and job market integration. The main outcome measured is the effectiveness of the HPB and Advanced GI surgery fellowship curriculums over one year. The study includes participants feedback and perceptions to understand the current training impact, with data collection continuing until 2028.
