What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating a self-instructional, web-based teacher training program aimed at helping early childhood and elementary teachers support autistic children and children with developmental delays. The study will examine whether this online program can improve teachers' knowledge about autism and developmental delays, as well as their attitudes toward inclusive education and teaching self-confidence. The trial compares this new program with alternative educational materials to see which approach better supports teachers in inclusive settings. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will complete the SEED Online Self-Instructional Program over two weeks, which includes self-paced modules with videos and learning materials focused on child development, classroom management, and instructional strategies. The comparison group will review alternative educational resources called Kit for Kids during the same period. After the intervention, those in the comparison group will have the option to access the SEED program. During the study, all participants will complete online surveys before and immediately after the intervention to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and teaching self-efficacy. These surveys include several validated questionnaires measuring autism knowledge, attitudes toward inclusion and neurodiversity, and confidence in teaching practices. The study also collects feedback on program satisfaction and acceptability. The trial is designed for public school teachers and aims to improve support for neurodiverse students in inclusive classrooms.
