Study of Rehabilitation Procedures in Adults on Invasive Mechanical Ventilation in French-Speaking Intensive Care Units

Researchers are observing rehabilitation practices in adult patients undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation in French-speaking intensive care units. The study aims to describe the average number of rehabilitation procedures performed per patient during their ICU stay and to determine the rehabilitation ratio, which is the number of rehabilitation procedures divided by the number of critical care hospital days, censored at day 28 from the start of mechanical ventilation. The study monitors rehabilitation procedures including passive and active limb mobilization, transfers to chair, sitting on the edge of bed, standing, walking, use of a cyclo-ergometer, and electrostimulation. These procedures remain consistent throughout the study, while ICU teams record the number of rehabilitation sessions provided each day during the patients stay. Participants will be observed throughout their ICU stay with data collection focusing on the rehabilitation procedures performed daily. The primary outcome measured is the rehabilitation ratio on day 28 of study participation. There is no treatment assigned, and the study involves reviewing routine care without intervention. The study will continue until December 2026.
