What this Trial Is About
Total knee arthroplasty TKA is a widely used surgery to treat advanced knee osteoarthritis, aiming to relieve pain, restore function, and improve quality of life. This study focuses on evaluating the survival and clinical outcomes of a specific knee implant called the Link Symphoknee prosthesis, which uses an all-polyethylene tibial component. This implant type has gained renewed interest due to potential benefits over traditional metal-backed designs, including fewer mechanical failures and lower costs. Participants in this trial will receive the Link Symphoknee prosthesis with an all-polyethylene tibial component as part of their knee replacement surgery. The study will track outcomes for up to five years after surgery to assess implant survival and clinical-functional results. This includes monitoring patients knee function, pain levels, satisfaction, and alignment using established scoring tools and measurements. During the study, participants will undergo scheduled assessments to evaluate the implants performance and their recovery. Researchers will use tools such as the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score KOOS, Forgotten Joint Score FJS, and Visual Analog Scale VAS for pain and satisfaction, along with measuring the Hip-Knee-Ankle angle. The trial is designed to observe implant failure rates and post-discharge readmissions over five years, with follow-up visits and evaluations throughout this period.
