Study of Brain Imaging and Cognitive Changes in Moyamoya Disease and Its Outcome Prediction

Moyamoya disease MMD is a chronic condition that causes narrowing or blockage of the main arteries in the brain, leading to stroke, especially in young and middle-aged people. Researchers are studying how brain imaging results and cognitive function change over time in people with MMD. The goal is to develop a system using imaging markers to better predict the diseases course and improve diagnosis and treatment planning. Participants in the study will either receive conservative medical treatment or undergo surgical treatments such as direct, indirect, or combined revascularization to improve blood flow to the brain. The study will track changes in brain function and blood flow using new imaging techniques and clinical assessments during follow-up periods ranging from one to five years. During the study, participants will undergo cognitive function tests, brain imaging scans, and evaluations of brain blood flow and connectivity. Researchers will monitor the rate of cognitive decline and changes in brain function and blood flow over time. This detailed follow-up aims to understand how cognitive abilities adapt under different brain blood flow conditions and how treatments may influence these changes.
