What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating how well the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) Labs App can collect hydration-related information remotely. The study aims to understand user engagement with the app and the feasibility of gathering both self-reported hydration markers and hydration data using transdermal optical imaging (TOI). It also explores variability in TOI features before and after drinking fluids and compares self-reported hydration measures to TOI predictions. Participants use the GSSI branded mobile app to complete hydration assessments while wearing their own daily activity trackers, such as Oura, WHOOP, Apple Watch, Garmin, Polar, Withings, or Fitbit. The study involves two identical 2-hour remote sessions spaced at least one day apart, but no more than six days. During these sessions, participants drink 600 mL of water and provide self-reported hydration data and TOI measurements via the app. Throughout the study, researchers monitor engagement, adherence, and dropout rates, while collecting hydration data remotely. Participants are asked to avoid alcohol 24 hours before each session and must connect their activity tracker to the app. Key outcomes include user engagement, feasibility of remote hydration monitoring, and the variability of TOI features after fluid intake. The total participation involves two study sessions within a week, with all data collected remotely.
