Researchers are studying frailty among patients who have received kidney transplants at Alexandria University Hospitals. The study aims to understand how common frailty is in this group and to explore the connection between frailty and chronic problems with the transplanted kidney. Frailty is linked to factors like diabetes, low serum albumin levels, cognitive impairment, and reduced muscle mass in people with kidney disease. Participants will undergo several assessments including the Clinical Frailty Scale to evaluate frailty, the Patient Generated Subjective Global Assessment to check nutritional status, the Charlson comorbidity score to determine other health conditions, a six-minute walk test to measure physical endurance, and muscle strength measurement using a hand grip strength dynamometer. This is a prospective cross-sectional study involving 80 kidney transplant patients. During the study, participants will be evaluated within 30 days for frailty, nutritional status, comorbidity, and muscle strength. Researchers will use these assessments to better understand how frailty affects kidney transplant recipients and its relationship to chronic kidney transplant dysfunction. The study involves no treatment but focuses on diagnostic tests and physical assessments under medical supervision.
