The retina shares embryological and physiological features with the brain, and changes in retinal blood vessels may serve as biomarkers for ICAS. The study aims to assess the performance and applicability of a model based on retinal imaging characteristics combined with traditional vascular risk factors to identify ICAS and predict stroke risk. Artificial intelligence, especially deep learning algorithms, will be used to analyze retinal images. Participants aged 18 and older who have undergone head and neck imaging within two weeks will have follow-up fundus examinations. The study will monitor the accuracy and usefulness of the retinal imaging-based screening model over two years. Participants will undergo non-invasive retinal imaging and provide consent for follow-up. The study will assess the model's ability to distinguish those with and without ICAS and contribute to stroke risk prediction, offering a potential new screening tool for primary healthcare settings.

You may qualify if you...

  • Age is 18 years or older
  • Completed head and neck imaging (DSA, CTA, MRA, or HR-MRI) within the last 2 weeks
  • Able to cooperate with follow-up fundus (eye) examinations and move freely
  • Signed informed consent
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Poor quality fundus images
  • Presence of intracranial mass lesions
  • Severe heart, liver, or kidney diseases
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
