What this Trial Is About
This research investigates whether children diagnosed with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) experience more difficulties with toilet training, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), and bowel problems compared to typically developing children (TDC) of the same grade and gender. The study aims to identify differences in the prevalence of these functional issues to better understand challenges faced by children with DCD. The study includes two groups: children with DCD confirmed by a multidisciplinary team, and a control group of typically developing children matched by grade and gender. Parents complete several questionnaires, including the Vancouver symptom score for dysfunctional elimination symptoms, the Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire assessing motor skills, and additional questions about toilet training and related conditions. Participants will be assessed through parent-filled questionnaires focusing on difficulties with toilet training, daytime incontinence, bedwetting (enuresis), and fecal incontinence. Researchers will analyze responses to understand bladder and bowel dysfunctions and their relation to DCD. The study duration for completing questionnaires is about 25 minutes per participant, and the overall study runs until June 2025.
