Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Pregnant and less than 24 weeks gestation
- Age over 18 years
- Current smoker with at least 100 cigarettes smoked in lifetime and more than 3 cigarettes per day in the last 7 days, including use of multiple tobacco products confirmed by expired carbon monoxide
- Willing to quit smoking and set a quit date within 2 weeks of enrollment
- Enrolled in prenatal care at Loma Linda University Health or Riverside University Health System
You will not qualify if you...
- Severe mental health problems preventing informed consent or participation in the CHW intervention
- Use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy or participation in a cessation program within 30 days prior to enrollment
- Unwilling to participate in audio-recorded interviews or focus groups
