What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying elite artistic swimmers from the Spanish National Artistic Swimming Team to establish reference values for joint mobility and muscle strength across different competitive levels. This observational study aims to analyze muscle strength imbalances and relationships between strength and functional performance tests like jumps and handgrip. The goal is to better understand sport-specific functional profiles and possible injury risks in artistic swimming. Participants undergo a single-session, standardized functional assessment during national team training camps. This includes measuring body data, shoulder and hip joint mobility using photographic goniometry, isometric muscle strength of upper and lower limbs with a force sensor, countermovement jump performance on a contact platform, and handgrip strength with a digital dynamometer. The evaluation is non-invasive and follows strict protocols for positioning, timing, and rest. During the study visit, participants complete all tests in one session. Researchers measure peak isometric muscle strength, joint mobility, strength asymmetries, strength ratios, jump power, and handgrip. The study collects data to explore how strength relates to functional performance. Participants must attend the training camp for evaluation. The study runs until March 2026 and includes swimmers aged 14 to 50 years across infant, junior, and senior categories.
