What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the impact of motivational interviewing on mothers who perceive they have insufficient breast milk, focusing on breastfeeding motivation and cortisol levels. This observational study explores how motivational interviewing, a supportive and client-centered approach, may help mothers overcome complex emotions and stress that affect breastfeeding. The study recognizes that stress and fear during and after birth can reduce milk secretion and bonding, and aims to assess these effects scientifically. The study compares two groups of mothers: a control group and an intervention group receiving motivational interviews. Mothers in the control group will be interviewed twice, with saliva samples taken to measure cortisol, and questionnaires assessing milk perception and breastfeeding motivation. Mothers in the intervention group will receive four weekly sessions of motivational interviewing lasting 15-30 minutes each, along with the same assessments and cortisol sampling before and after the sessions. Participants will complete personal information forms, perception scales, and breastfeeding motivation scales at the beginning and one month later. Saliva samples will be collected to monitor cortisol, a hormone related to stress. The primary measurement is the Insufficient Milk Perception Scale after one month. Secondary outcomes include breastfeeding motivation. The study starts with data collection, followed by interviews and final assessments, with participation lasting about one month.
