What this Trial Is About
This research aims to understand how motivation is affected by exercise and the consumption of different beverages. It focuses on healthy adults aged 18 to 45 years with a body mass index between 18 and 30, who have normal blood pressure and glucose levels. The study is conducted by the University of South Florida and uses a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design to explore motivation states. Participants will be assigned to one of four groups: exercise with a sugar drink, exercise with a non-sugar drink, rest with a sugar drink, or rest with a non-sugar drink. The exercise involves 30 minutes at moderate intensity, while the beverages consist of either water with sugar or water with stevia powder. The study includes 5 visits to the lab over 2 to 3 weeks, with each visit spaced at least 2 days apart. During the study, participants will be asked to complete assessments of their motivation to move or rest, measured 60 minutes after interventions. Researchers will monitor adherence and collect data on motivation changes. The total duration of participation is approximately 2 to 3 weeks, during which safety and health status will be observed.
