Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Infant or newborn less than 18 months old
- Admitted to an intensive care unit
- Has one or more of the following: multiple birth defects, a major malformation requiring surgery or medication, significantly abnormal EKG, or significant hypotonia
- Or has high-risk signs from a Brief Resolved Unexplained Event (BRUE) such as recurrent severe infections, prolonged or repeated seizures, unexplained cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or suspected inborn error of metabolism
You will not qualify if you...
- Infants with a clear non-genetic diagnosis like infection with normal treatment response, isolated prematurity, transient low blood sugar, isolated unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia, or transient neonatal tachypnea
- Confirmed genetic diagnosis that explains the illness
- Families who do not consent to genetic testing or data sharing
- Infants without enough quality or quantity of DNA sample for sequencing
