Study of Brain Responses to Controlled Sensory Stimulation in an Acoustic Chamber for Adults with Epilepsy or Healthy Volunteers

Researchers are studying the effects of controlled sensory stimulation, such as music, on brain function in people with epilepsy and mood disorders. This observational study aims to explore how these stimulations influence neuronal networks and psychological outcomes like anxiety, depression, and quality of life over an 8-year period. The study is sponsored by Centre Hospitalier St Anne and includes both patients and healthy volunteers. Participants with epilepsy, with or without mood disorders, will be exposed to music stimulations in an acoustic chamber. Healthy volunteers over 18 years old may also participate without exposure to such stimulations. The study monitors brain activity and psychological health continuously throughout the 8 years. During the study, researchers will assess neuronal networks along with anxiety, depression, and quality of life measures. Participants will undergo behavioral and neurophysiological evaluations regularly to track changes. The long duration allows detailed observation of how sensory stimulation might affect brain function and mental health over time.
